DEER HEAD APPARITION 29th April. Live Broadcast at Radio Valerie. (The Gasometer Hotel & remotely.)

http://wagonbroadcastservice.org/deerhead/

This collective is fun. Weird tunes and nice people. The playing remotely thing was interesting and really spacially odd with the delay in latency. It looked cool in the studio upstairs at the Gaso.

DEER HEAD APPARITION IS A NO CORE MEMBER, NO EXCLUSIONS MUSIC COLLECTIVE. WE’VE MOSTLY BEEN DOING SOME GIGS HERE AND THERE AND IT HAS TURNED OUT VAGUELY PSYCHEDELIC OR NOISY OR WHATEVER. IT IS NOT A ‘PROJECT’, THERE ARE NO LEADERS, ANYONE CAN BOOK SHOWS OR ORGANISE JAMS AS LONG AS NO ONE GETS LEFT OUT, PLEASE HAVE FUN, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ‘GOOD AT MUSIC’ OR ‘PART OF THE SCENE’ OR ‘WORKING ON A PROJECT’ TO BE PART OF DEER HEAD APPARITION

Ryan Cockburn – 3CR D.I.Y. Arts Show live-to-air.

Leith and Nicole asked me in to do a short set on their sweet show on 3CR.

My set is the last ten or so minutes of the show after a interesting discussion about internet radio and other such cultural things happening in Melbournetowne.

Sabbatical  Labour Day Weekend photos & live audio

Ryan Cockburn setting up. Looks to be amazing.

Experimental record destroyer Ryan Cockburn, now on-air @ KIPL, SABBATICAL LABOUR DAY WEEKEND.

Over the last weekend, Radio Valerie simulcasted a 2-day event @ KIPL Warehouse in West Melbourne for the Sabbatical Labour Day Weekend festival.

Billed as “two days of rare and diverse performances, spanning the sublimely low brow to the high concept”, it was a weekend to remember with special performances from The Informatics (first gig since the mid-80′s), Dead Boomers (for their new album launch) and a swag local AUS/NZ talent to get everybody dancing and chin-stroking.

Leith Thomas (1/3rd of Sabbatical) sometimes describes Sabbatical’s output as “unpopular music”. What would you call it?

Pits ‘Phantom Limb” Lost & Found 2009

Here’s a munted C&W album I made in 2009. I really like some of the guitar work & recording on here, just finding my feet and think it stands up with the newer stuff for the ‘rawk’ side of the sounds I make. It’s downloadable so go nuts!
